The sun dappling through the leaves, the gentle breeze whispering along your skin, the frogs croaking in the pond, the feeling of the earth beneath your feet – these are simple yet profound joys that GOT ABI (Get Out There with Acquired Brain Injury) believes should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re thrilled to invite you to join our ongoing series of monthly accessible nature walks, a cornerstone of our exciting partnership with the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) and their vital “Nature Accessible for All” initiative.
Building on the incredible success of our beautiful inaugural walk at Long Bridge Park in Hainesport, we are energized and more determined than ever to continue exploring the natural wonders of New Jersey in an inclusive and supportive way. The smiles, the shared moments of discovery, and the sense of community we experienced at Long Bridge Park affirmed the profound need and the immense joy these walks bring.
Our monthly walks are more than just a chance to stretch your legs; they are an opportunity to connect with nature, build community, and directly contribute to making the outdoors more accessible for all. As we stroll along carefully chosen trails, we will also be playing a crucial role in the Pinelands Preservation Alliance’s “Nature Accessible for All” initiative.
Every step we take becomes a data point. As we enjoy the beauty around us, we will also be mindfully assessing the accessibility of the trails. Our participants, along with their families, friends, and supporters, will provide invaluable firsthand feedback on trail surfaces, signage, rest areas, and overall navigability. This real-time information will be shared directly with the PPA, contributing to their ongoing efforts to identify areas for improvement and create a comprehensive understanding of accessible natural spaces across New Jersey.
